Forgive Florida State football fans if they’re looking past the Seminoles’ Week 2 game against East Texas A&M. The expectation of hammering an FCS team doesn’t measure up to taking on archrival Miami in what’s looking like a pivotal ACC matchup in October.
FSU and Miami both won big games against top-10 opponents in Week 1 matchups that doubled as successful debuts of their promising new quarterbacks. Fans stormed the field after the Seminoles took down then-No. 8 Alabama 31-17 behind 230 total yards from Tommy Castellanos. A day later, the Hurricanes rallied to beat then-No. 5 Notre Dame 27-24 with Carson Beck tossing two touchdown passes.

Knocking out Notre Dame, who played for the national championship last season, has UM feeling good about their chances even after Heisman finalist Cam Ward left to become the No. 1 pick in the NFL draft. Meanwhile, FSU is feeling like it’s 2023 all over again, finally able to put to bed last year’s monstrous 2-10 campaign.
Their paths cross in Week 6 at Doak Campbell Stadium, and it’s shaping up to be the most highly anticipated showdowns in years for one of college football’s fiercest rivalries (fans from the 1990s know the significance of “Wide Right”). FSU and Miami haven’t both been ranked when they’ve faced off since 2016, and if neither team slips up over the next month, there’s a chance for both to be in the top 10 for the first time since 2013, when No. 3 FSU obliterated No. 7 Miami in Tallahassee en route to its last national championship.
UM still has a date with its other in-state rival, Florida, at the end of September, while FSU travels to Virginia the week before the rivalry game. But fans are getting ready to make this a game for the ages and serve as a possible elimination game for one team’s ACC championship hopes. Here’s what to know about the upcoming FSU-Miami game:
When is FSU vs Miami?
Florida State, ranked No. 19 in the US LBM Coaches Poll, hosts No. 7 Miami on Saturday, Oct. 4. The kickoff time and TV channel broadcasting the game will be announced later.

As of 11:30 a.m. Sept. 4, ticket prices for the Florida State vs. Miami game at Doak Campbell Stadium start at $281 on VividSeats, $301 on Ticketmaster, $302 on SeatGeek and $310 on StubHub. Prices in the lower bowl range from $326 in the end zone to $8,225 on the home sideline.
