The Florida State football season kicks off in a big way with No. 8 Alabama coming into Doak Campbell Stadium. FSU fans are praying for a turnaround from coach Mike Norvell after last season’s disastrous 2-10 finish.
The Seminoles enter the season with a lot of turnover, highlighted by Boston College transfer Tommy Castellanos. The quarterback stirred the pot over the offseason by taking shots at the Crimson Tide, who just missed out on last season’s College Football Playoff with a 9-3 regular-season record.
This is Alabama’s second season with Kalen DeBoer at head coach, replacing the retired legend Nick Saban. Bama has a bevy of talent at their disposal, led by superstar sophomore receiver Ryan Williams, though they’ll have first-year quarterback Ty Simpson running the show.

Florida State vs Alabama predictions, picks for college football Week 1
Liam Rooney
Alabama 34, FSU 21: I think this game will be closer than many expect in the first half as the Seminoles get a home crowd boost at the newly renovated Doak Campbell Stadium, and Alabama’s Ty Simpson takes a few drives to settle in.
Peter Holland
Alabama 24, FSU 14: FSU will make it convincing, but Alabama will still have the edge. I expect it to be a one-score game, but then Alabama will somehow turn the corner with one touchdown to its play-making receiver, Ryan Williams.
