Link Jarrett and the FSU baseball program have added two transfers this offseason, and they were in the mix for another one of their top targets. They were unable to get it done, with former Mississippi State pitcher Charlie Foster committed to the Ole Miss Rebels on Saturday.
Foster is from Snellville, Georgia, and was also considering the South Carolina Gamecocks and Tennessee Volunteers. He will have two seasons of eligibility at Ole Miss.
He is coming off a disappointing 2026 season, finishing with a 6.69 ERA in 36.1 innings and 15 appearances, including nine starts. He struck out 37 batters, but walked 22 and hit five, with opponents hitting .266 off him. While the overall numbers were down, he flashed the potential that made him a coveted player.
His best start of the season came against South Carolina, when he allowed three runs over seven innings on six hits and a walk with eight strikeouts. The performance was reminiscent of the promise he showed as a freshman in 2025 despite battling some injuries.
Foster had a 1.59 ERA as a freshman in 11.1 innings, striking out 17 batters and walking eight. Opponents hit .081 off hit with just two extra-base hits in 46 plate appearances.
While missing out on Foster stings, the Seminoles have already added one starting pitcher this offseason. Former UConn ace Cameron Suchy signed with FSU earlier in the offseason and is expected to lead the rotation.
