Florida State is expected to take a small wide receiver class in 2027 due to the haul they took in 2026. Of the six they signed, four-star Jasen Lopez was ranked the highest after a stellar high school career at Chaminade-Madonna Prep in Hollywood, Florida.
As expected, Lopez came in with high expectations. According to FSU cornerback Ja’Bril Rawls, he’s already living up to the hype during his short time in Tallahassee. At the first day of the ACC Kickoff event, Rawls was very complementary of what he’s seen from Lopez.
“Jasen Lopez, his game and style is different, man,” Rawls told Warchant. “When you guys see it the first game, y’all gonna be like, ‘where has this kid come from?’
“He’s definitely one of the ones.”
Lopez is one of top route runners coming into the college ranks in 2026. He’s also known for being able to created great separation and racking up a ton of yards after the catch. That’s what allowed him to be such a productive player in high school after playing 10 games on varsity as an eighth grader.
Lopez registered four consecutive seasons of over 1,000 yards receiving and double-digit touchdowns. He ended his high school days with 63 receptions for 1,173 yards and 13 touchdowns as a senior. Also, his 18.6 yards per catch last season was his best on the high school level.
Head coach Mike Norvell has already said that unless he and fellow freshman Devin Carter regress significantly, both will play in 2026. It’ll be interesting to see what Lopez and refined skill set can bring to the Seminoles’ offense in his first year.
