FSU football's Michai Danzy, Tallahassee native, scores his first career TD vs. Alabama

Micahi Danzy may be a wide receiver, but his first career touchdown was on the ground.

The Tallahassee native scored his first TD as a Florida State Seminole in the second quarter of the game following a reverse play, handing off the Florida High grad for 30 yards.

After the score, the Seminoles took a 14-7 lead over Alabama with less than nine minutes left to play before the half. Danzy switched from running back to wide receiver this past offseason. Danzy is also an All-American sprinter for the track and field team.

This will be FSU’s second rushing touchdown of the day. Quarterback Tommy Castellanos scored on the first drive on a nine-yard keeper after he threw a 40-yard deep ball to Squirrel White. Kicker Jake Weinberg nails a 44-yard field goal to extend FSU’s lead to 17-7.

Castellanos is 6 for 6 in passing for 66 yards. Alabama scored on its opening drive after QB Ty Simpson connected with his tight end, Josh Cuevas.
