Escambia County will continue its free Pensacola Beach Island Trolleys on the weekend after a successful early start to the season last weekend.
The trolleys will run from 2 p.m. to midnight Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays through May 17. Beginning May 22 and through Sept. 7, the trolleys will run seven days a week from 4 p.m. to midnight.
Typically, the trolley season doesn’t start until Memorial Day.
Three trolleys operate concurrently, running three routes. The eastern route runs from Casino Beach to Portofino, the western route runs from Casino Beach to Park West near the entrance gate to Gulf Islands National Seashore, and the commercial core route runs from Casino Beach to Grand Marlin with stops occurring along Pensacola Beach Boulevard. The trolley system is free for all riders.
Due to limited parking lot access, all trolley stops along the Pensacola Beach Boardwalk will be serviced from the road side instead of within the parking lot. The pickup and drop-off location will be along Pensacola Beach Boulevard, in front of the Pensacola Beach Boardwalk sign.
The Pensacola Beach Island Trolley is a free, open-air service operated by ECAT that can be used to conveniently tour the area while simultaneously helping to reduce traffic on the island. The county rolled out three new trolley’s last year that were designed to give visitors more of an “island experience.”
