Former FSU softball star commits to SEC power

Former FSU softball shortstop Isa Torres is joining the Texas Longhorns. The former All-American announced she had committed to the back-to-back national Tuesday on social media.

It is a return home for Torres, who is from Georgetown, Texas. She will have one season of eligibility for the Longhorns. She is ranked as the No. 1 overall player in the transfer portal by Softball America, receiving a 100.00 grade.

She was one of the best players in FSU history, but never made it to the Women’s College World Series, with the Seminoles falling in the Super Regional round twice and the Regional round once during her time in Tallahassee. She is set to be one of the best players in the country next year and is coming off a historic season.

Torres broke the school records for batting average (.530), runs (78), slugging percentage (.978), and on-base percentage (.591). She was named the ACC Player and Defender of the Year, D1Softball Player of the Year, and a consensus First-Team All-American. She made just two errors on the season to go with 16 home runs, 21 doubles, and 13 stolen bases, all of which were new career highs.

She is the second FSU player to announce their commitment on Tuesday. Outfielder Addie DeLong, who is from Ohio, signed with the Ohio State Buckeyes. Jaysoni Beachum and Mimi Gooden are the only two Seminoles who have not found their next school yet.
