Former Florida Gators great Brandon Spikes in no longer on the Florida football staff, a source confirmed to the The Sun on May 29.
Spikes most recently worked as UF’s assistant director of player development and was involved in the GatorMade program, which prepares players for life after football.
A former All-American linebacker on Florida’s 2006 and 2008 national title teams, Spikes went on a to a six-year NFL career from 2010-16 with the New England Patriots and Buffalo Bills. The 38-year-old Spikes returned to UF as a student assistant in 2023 under former coach Billy Napier, while pursuing his degree. He’s currently pursuing his Masters at UF’s Warrington School of Business.
From 2006-29, Spikes posted 307 career tackles (178 solo), 31.5 tackles for loss, 6.5 sacks and a school-record 4 interceptions returned for TDs.
A Shelby, N.C., native, Spikes was featured prominently in Swamp Kings, a Netflix documentary that chronicled the Florida Gators success from 2006-08 under former coach Urban Meyer.
