Florida softball vs Texas Tech Game 3 weather delay: Updates, new start time

Florida softball’s winner-take-all super regional matchup against Texas Tech has entered a lightning delay.

The Gators had just taken a 4-3 lead in the bottom of the first inning and had a runner on second base with two outs when the game was delayed.

Texas Tech had just begun a pitching change after starter Kaitlyn Terry had surrendered four runs. Nijaree Canady was warming up in relief when the game was called for a delay.

The delay will last 30 minutes but restarts after each lightning strike within a 10-mile radius.

According to Weather Channel, rain is expected in the area around 2 p.m.

Delay officially begins at 12:34 p.m. E.T.

No start time has been announced.

The winner of the game will advance to win the Women’s College World Series in Oklahoma City and face either Oklahoma or Mississippi State.
