The Florida Panthers left an NHL postseason record in their wake amid a first-period onslaught in Edmonton on Wednesday night.
Brad Marchand’s go-ahead goal in the first period gave the Panthers a 2-1 advantage over the Oilers and set a new record for the most road goals in a single postseason in NHL history.

The Panthers have now scored 50 road goals in the 2025 postseason, surpassing the Kings’ total of 49 in the 1993 postseason. The record was announced via the NHL on TNT broadcast.
Edmonton took an early lead inside two minutes after Leon Draisaitl jumped on a loose rebound from Panthers goalie Sergei Bobrovsky.
Sam Bennett answered several minutes later with a controversial goal after the puck glanced off him and into the goal while he was blocked into Edmonton goalie Stuart Skinner. A quick referees’ review confirmed the Panthers’ tying goal.
