Florida football enters National Signing Day on Wednesday, Feb. 4, under first-year coach Jon Sumrall with a transformed roster.
All 19 incoming freshmen who signed during the early signing period in December have enrolled early and are taking part in preseason strength and conditioning to prepare for spring practice, which starts on March 25.
In addition, the Florida Gators have added close to 30 scholarship players and walk-ons signed in the transfer portal, a list that includes Georgia Tech quarterback Aaron Philo, Auburn wide receiver Eric Singleton and Kentucky safety Cam Dooley.
“You never really fully know until you go through spring practice and get in the season,” Sumrall said. “I think we had some areas of need that we maybe fulfilled. I think we had some areas of need where we got to figure out where we at. You never really know.:”
It’s unlikely that Florida will add any more high school players to its 2026 class on Wednesday. But Sumrall and his staff are already hard at work on the 2027 class, hosting visits during January and landing a commitment from four-star cornerback Amare Nugent from American Heritage High School in Plantation.
