Florida barely hanging on to D1Baseball Top 25 spot

Florida baseball’s slump continued in Week 11 with a midweek loss to Jacksonville and a series loss to the Texas A&M Aggies over the weekend.

As a result, the Gators dropped four spots in the latest D1Baseball rankings from No. 21 to No. 25. Florida suffered the same fate in this week’s USA TODAY Sports Baseball Coaches Poll. That puts them on the cusp of being unranked and behind the No. 24 Alabama Crimson Tide.

The Orange and Blue have now lost six of their last eight games, including four defeats against current top-eight teams. Florida remains in play to host a regional thanks to a strong strength of schedule and RPI ranking, but it will have to right the ship next week against the Oklahoma Sooners.

Another weekend like the last two, and Florida will be on the outside of the top 25 looking in.
