A lost dog who fled from a vehicle crash was found thanks to drone technology from the Palm Beach County Fire Rescue.
According to a Facebook post from PBCFR, Sadie and her owner were involved in a motor vehicle crash and the dog ran off in fear and disappeared into the six foot tall sugar cane fields in the South Bay area.
Her owner was dealing with the crash and gained the added heartbreak of losing her pet but firefighters jumped into action.
A typical search turned up nothing so the firefighters decided to use drones to fly over the area. The drones utilize infrared technology, which can detect heat signatures of peoples or dogs bodies.
PBCFR said in their post that they have used the drones before to help locate people who are “missing, lost or have wandered into large areas or difficult-to-search areas.”
In the end the puppy was found and safely returned to it’s owner
PBCFR was aided by the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office and the Palm Beach County Animal Care and Control.
