Gators add Miguel Tovar to men's diving roster

Florida men’s diving signs Miguel Tovar to the men’s swimming and diving roster for the 2026-27 season.

Tovar is a native of Colombia and brings an extensive international resume with him to Florida. He competed in the 2022 and 2024 World Junior Championships, earning silver medals in both 1-meter competitions.

Tovar also established his name at the 2025 Pan American Junior Games, winning Colombia’s first Pan American Junior diving medal with a bronze in the 1-meter. He also added a silver medal in the 3-meter synchronized event.

“Miguel is exactly the type of athlete we want representing Florida,” Head Diving Coach Bryan Gillooly said. “He’s already one of the top divers on a very talented Colombian national team, and he is quickly making a name for himself internationally. His work ethic, competitiveness and personality make him a perfect fit for our program. When you add him to the three returners we have coming back, I think we’ve assembled a team that will be very difficult to beat.”

Tovar decided to choose Florida for the opportunities and support that the program provided.

“I chose this university because of the many forms of support and opportunities it can provide. I know that here I can become the person I want to be.”
