FAMU football summer camps: When the Rattlers will host high school prospects on campus

Summertime means camp season is in full swing.

Florida A&M football, led by head coach James Colzie III, will begin hosting camps on Ken Riley Field at Bragg Memorial Stadium starting Monday, June 23.

Camps are instrumental for college football programs to assess talent, showcase their facilities, and give back to the community.

The FAMU Rattlers will have a Big Man, Youth, and two prospect camps next week.

Here’s the schedule and details of when aspiring college football players can spend time with the Rattlers.

Monday, June 23: Big Man Camp

Big Man Camp, for rising high school freshman to senior offensive and defensive linemen, will kick off FAMU’s summer camps on Monday, June 23, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

The camp is designed to teach fundamental linemen techniques and one-on-one competitions. Helmets and shoulder pads are required.

Registration costs $40.

Tuesday, June 24: Prospect Camp 1

Individual high school football players entering the ninth through 12th grades can attend FAMU football’s Prospect Camp on Tuesday, June 24, starting from 11 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.

The camp provides an opportunity to get hands-on coaching and interaction with the FAMU football staff. Last year’s prospect camp attracted 200 players.

The camp is also position-specific, and campers must bring their own helmet.

Signup is $60.

Tuesday, June 24: Youth Camp

Youngsters ages 7-13 are encouraged to attend FAMU football’s one-day non-contact Youth Camp on Tuesday, June 24, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Rattlers coaches and players will instruct the campers on football techniques and teach character-based lessons. The camp is open to boys and girls; the only necessary equipment is football cleats.

It is $25 for campers to attend FAMU’s Youth Football Camp.

Friday, June 27: Prospect Camp 2

The Rattlers will host their second Prospect Camp to close camp season on Friday, June 27, from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Like the Prospect Camp earlier in the week, it is for rising ninth to 12th graders and will provide direct interaction, coaching, and feedback from FAMU football coaches.

Campers are required to bring their own helmets, and entry costs $60.
