FAMU football recruiting: All-American returner Kieren Jackson commits

Florida A&M football has picked up a special teams spark out of the NCAA Transfer Portal.

Kieren Jackson, a BOXTOROW HBCU All-American return specialist, announced on June 2 that he has committed to the Rattlers.

Jackson previously played at Division II Edward Waters in his hometown of Jacksonville during the 2025 season.

During Jackson’s junior year, he drew national attention in Black College Football with 20 kick return attempts for 558 yards and three touchdowns. The 5-foot-10, 165-pound speedster also had three punt returns for 129 yards and a touchdown, landing him the All-American honor.

Jackson also plays wide receiver. He caught eight passes for 94 yards at EWU last year.

Outside of football, Jackson is listed on the EWU Tigers’ track and field team roster.

The new FAMU addition has a prior connection with its new head coach, Quinn Fordham Gray Sr. Out of Mandarin High School, Jackson signed to Gray’s first recruiting class at Albany State in February 2023 and spent two seasons there.

The two will now be reunited on The Highest of Seven Hills on the Division I Football Championship Subdivision level as the Gray era starts for the Rattlers this fall. A handful of Jackson’s former Albany State teammates, including quarterback Isaiah Knowles, also followed Gray to FAMU.

FAMU plays a full slate of games on television during the 2026 season. The 12-game schedule starts on SWAC TV with the Rattlers hosting the season opener against Albany State on Aug. 29 at 7 p.m. on Ken Riley Field at Bragg Memorial Stadium.
