In the world of recruiting, if two different head coaches like you enough to want to recruit you, you are probably a really good prospect. For Florida State, both Leonard Hamilton’s and Luke Loucks’ staff have been going after prospects in the Sunshine State for many years. After Hamilton’s departure from the program after the 2024-25 season, Loucks took over. With that comes the recruiting of a prospect.
Joe Philon is a four-star power forward prospect from Montverde Academy (FL), and he had an offer from Hamilton’s staff given in July of 2024, per 247Sports. Ranked as the eighth-best prospect in the state of Florida and the sixth-best power forward prospect nationally, Philon has continued to catch the attention of Loucks’ staff.
He has scheduled an official visit to Tallahassee in September as a result of the efforts of both coaching staffs. He also has offers from the Florida Gulf Coast Eagles, the St. Bonaventure Bonnies, and the South Florida Bulls.
