Waving kids. Proud parents. And a colorful parade full of strollers, bicycles, wagons and floats.
Thousands of children and their families rode through downtown Fort Myers on Sunday, Feb. 15, for the Edison Festival of Light Junior Parade. They were joined by marching bands, dancing groups and more as crowds packed the sidewalks and cheered.
The popular event was part of the 88th-annual Edison Festival of Light — almost three weeks of fun that concludes this Saturday, Feb. 21 with the bigger Edison Festival of Light Grand Parade. Many of the floats from the Junior Parade will go on to appear in the Grand Parade, as well.
The festival celebrates Fort Myers’ most famous snowbird, inventor Thomas Edison.
