We have some good news and some bad news for fans of music documentaries. The good news: A new series of rock-docs opens this weekend at the Ponte Vedra Concert Hall. The bad news: Both showings of the Talking Heads’ “Stop Making Sense” are “sold out.”
It’s the first of the Stage to Screen series, sponsored by Friends of the Ponte Vedra Concert Hall. Doors open at 6 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and the film starts at 7:30 p.m.
The screenings are free, but you have to register for a ticket. They’ve all been spoken for this weekend, hence the “sold out” shows that didn’t actually sell any tickets.
Tickets are still available, though, to watch “The Last Waltz” by the Band on Saturday, Aug. 15 (the Friday screening is sold out). Same thing with the Rolling Stones’ “Shine a Light,” which is sold out for Friday, Aug. 21, but not for the Saturday, Aug. 22, screening. The series wraps Friday, Aug. 28, with “Diamonds in the Desert: Hans Zimmer & Friends.”

Kids’ Bike Rodeo
5 p.m. Friday, Aug. 7, at the Regional Sports Complex in Middleburg. Free.
First day of school is just around the corner and plenty of kids will be biking to school. Kids can bring their non-motorized bikes and scooters to the facility off Florida 21 south of Middleburg, where pros will give it a safety check and a wash before teaching basic cycling safety. Kids will also be able to ride through an obstacle course. Free helmets will be given away while supplies last. Info: exploreclay.com
Stephen Wilson Jr.
7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 7, at the St. Augustine Amphitheatre. $49-$88.
Stephen Wilson Jr. didn’t take the easy road to stardom. He grew up in Seymour, Ind., (also the hometown of John Mellencamp) and tried his hand at music as a young man but set it aside for a career in food science. Music kept gnawing at him, though, and in 2023, he released his first album as a 44-year-old. Now he’s headlining amphitheaters. The Lone Bellow opens. Info: theamp.com
Dungeons & Dragons
5:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 8, at the Jacksonville Zoo and Botanical Gardens. $20.
You know all of those people who tease you about playing Dungeons & Dragons? Turns out the joke’s on them, because the zoo is opening its paths Saturday to Dungeon Masters who will lead a quest to save the unicorns of Silverwood. Along the way you’ll solve puzzles and battle to advance your quest. They’ll also have a Silver Stalls Marketplace, where artisans and vendors will offer everything you need to keep playing. Spirit Fest
