A restaurant that has built a loyal following on downtown Sarasota’s Main Street over nearly six years recently added lunch hours and a new menu to go with them.
Lucile Pizza & Wine Bar at 1660 Main St. is open for lunch as of May 13, according to a press release. It will serve a selection of sandwiches for lunch, while the dinner menu will still offer pizzas and other plates.
Lucile was opened in late 2020 by Ryan Boeve, who also opened fellow downtown Sarasota restaurant Lila in 2016, and Mark Baldwin. Like Lila, Lucile is not entirely vegan or vegetarian but highlights non-meat menu items, such as pizzas that can be made with cashew mozzarella or topped with plant-based pepperoni, sausage, bacon and meatballs.
What’s on Lucile’s lunch menu?
Hot sandwiches include grilled mortadella; sliced roasted beef with pepper jack cheese whiz; fried fish with beer-battered cod; a smokehouse burger with brisket, chuck and short rib; fried chicken thigh; and a banh mi. For cold sandwiches, there’s an Italian; Superhero Club with turkey, ham and thick-cut bacon; tuna salad; and turkey.
As with Lila and Lucile’s dinner menu, there are numerous non-meat sandwich options as well, including a BLT Veg with tofu bacon and vegan mayo, a mushroom burger with vegan American cheese, and the option to order the banh mi with tofu. Sandwiches come with choice of chips or celery root slaw, and Caesar or chopped salads with choice of turkey, ham, beef, salami or tofu bacon round out the lunch menu.
The dinner menu still offers a variety of pizzas with meat, vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options, including the choice to build your own. There are also other entrees such as spaghetti with walnut-lentil meatballs or almond ricotta triangoli, and smaller plates such as chicken wings or fried artichokes. As its name suggests, Lucile also has a beer and wine license and serves a selection of each.
Lucile is open 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Wednesday-Saturday for lunch, and 4-9 p.m. Monday-Saturday and 3-9 p.m. Sunday for dinner. For more information, call 941-330-0101 or visit lucilesrq.com.
