Dolphins steal free agent cornerback from AFC East rival

The Miami Dolphins already added Lonnie Johnson and Darrell Baker to their cornerback room and re-signed A.J. Green III on Thursday afternoon, but that’s not stopping them from bringing in more veterans.

According to NFL insider Jordan Schultz, the Dolphins are signing cornerback Alex Austin away from the New England Patriots.

Austin, 24, played at Oregon State before the Buffalo Bills took him in the seventh round (No. 252 overall) of the 2023 draft. After brief stints with the Bills and Houston Texans, he’s spent the last three years with the Patriots.

In his three seasons in the league, Austin has appeared in 29 games and started six. He’s recorded 31 tackles, eight passes defensed and one interception.

Now, he joins Baker, Johnson, Grenn, Storm Duck, JuJu Brents, Jason Marshall Jr. and Isaiah Johnson in Miami’s cornerback room.
