Despite winning, FSU falls in USA TODAY Sports college football re-rank

Despite winning 66-10 against the Kent State Golden Flashes, the Florida State Seminoles fell in this week’s USA TODAY Sports’ college football re-rank.

In last week’s poll, the Seminoles were ranked at 10th out of 136 teams. In his new re-rank of all 136 FBS teams in the country, Paul Myerberg of USA TODAY Sports moved Florida State down to No. 11. That’s three spots behind where they are positioned in the US LBM Coaches Poll.

Surrounding the Seminoles are No. 10 Tennessee and No. 12 Ole Miss. This is the first week that the Seminoles have dropped in the rankings. Despite their 3-0 record, taking down Kent State and putting up a school-record 498 yards of rushing offense wasn’t enough to move the needle higher in their favor.

Florida State is the second-best ACC team per Myerberg’s rankings, behind the Miami Hurricanes at No. 2. The Clemson Tigers have fallen all the way down to No. 64, and you won’t have to look far for another ACC team, as the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets are sitting at No. 19.

Florida State continues its quest for the climb when it travels to Charlottesville to take on the Virginia Cavaliers on Friday at 7 p.m. ET. The game will be on ESPN.
