A 63-year-old motorcyclist died in a wreck in Deltona on Sunday, Feb. 8, when he crashed into a sport utility vehicle turning into a park, according to the Volusia Sheriff’s Office.
In a Facebook post, the sheriff’s office said the accident involving a 2011 Chevy Tahoe and a 2002 Moto Guzzi motorcycle occurred around noon outside the Dewey Boster Park at 1190 Saxon Blvd.
The driver of the Chevy Tahoe did not show signs of impairment and remained on scene and cooperated, the social media post indicated.
An initial crash investigation showed the Tahoe was turning left into Dewey Boster Park when the motorcycle crashed into it, ejecting the Deltona man, investigating sheriff’s deputies said.
A surveillance camera in the area captured footage that suggested the motorcycle’s speed may have been a factor in the crash, which remains under investigation, the sheriff’s office said.
