Temperatures have been high with heat indices well over the 100-degree mark in Central Florida over the last week.
While residents Volusia and Flagler counties could see a break in the next few days, as for right now, the entire state of Florida is again under a heat advisory.
Volusia and Flagler counties are under the advisory until 8 p.m. Aug. 16, with highs around 95 degrees and feels-like temperatures close to 110 degrees, according to the National Weather Service forecast.
In addition, rain is unlikely to cool things down, with a 10% chance of precipitation in Flagler and no rain in Volusia’s forecast until late afternoon Aug. 17.
Here’s how hot it will be in Volusia and Flagler over the next few days
Volusia County, Daytona Beach weather outlook
Volusia County residents Aug. 16 will experience feels-like temperatures as high as 109 degrees with no rain in sight, so don’t expect it to cool down any time soon, according to the NWS.
Overnight temperatures could reach a low of 78, but by Aug. 17, it will be sunny and hot with a high near 95 and heat indices as high as 110 degrees.
A 30% chance of showers and thunderstorms between 3 and 8 p.m. could offer a short break from the heat. Expect a low of 78 overnight.
Precipitation returns to the forecast Aug. 18 with a 50% chance of rain and thunderstorms early in the afternoon. It will still be a hot day, with a high around 96 and an overnight low of 78 degrees.
Flagler County, Palm Coast weather outlook
Flagler County residents can expect similar conditions Aug. 16, with a 95-degree high on a “mostly sunny and hot” day, according to the forecast. Feels-like temperatures will be close to 110 degrees, with rain chances around 10%. Overnight lows will be around 77 degrees, according to the forecast.
On Aug. 17, the forecast calls for a 50% chance of rain and thunderstorms early in the afternoon, but residents should still expect a high of 96 and a heat index value of 112. Rain could continue on and off until 2 a.m. The overnight low is expected to be around 78 degrees.
Expect another scorching hot day Aug. 18, with a high near 97 degrees. A 50% chance of rain and thunderstorms after 2 p.m. is forecast, followed by a 30% chance of showers overnight between 11 p.m. and 2 a.m. and an overnight low of 77 degrees.
