MARTIN COUNTY — A single-car crash just after 7 p.m. on Interstate 95, south of Southwest Kanner Highway, resulted in a fatality and northbound lane closures for a few hours the evening of July 10, according to a crash report.
Oscar John Earl Rudder, 28, of Port St. Lucie was driving a 2007 black Chevrolet Corvette north on Interstate 95 in the outside lane, according to a Florida Highway Patrol crash report. While trying to change lanes, he lost control of the car and it began spinning toward the inside shoulder.
The front of the car crashed into the inside guardrail, which went through the car and struck Rudder in the arm. He was pronounced dead on scene, according to the crash report.
Martin County Sheriff’s Office, Fire Rescue, and Florida Highway Patrol responded to the crash. The center lane and left northbound lanes were temporarily closed, sheriff’s officials stated on social media.
The lanes were reopened and the scene was cleared at 11:39 p.m., according to the crash report.
