Charges dropped against man accused in bank robbery

Authorities have dropped their case against the man suspected to have taken part in the recent robbery of the Regions Bank on North Monroe Street.

The Tallahassee Police Department said on June 24 that they had arrested Brandon Dodson for accessory after the fact, a third-degree felony.

According to court records, however, another suspect “confessed to the crime and in that confession admitted that this defendant has no involvement.”

TPD earlier arrested James Bryant for robbery without a weapon and grand theft. Bryant allegedly went inside the Regions Bank, stealing around $3,000.

Dodson denied knowing the suspect, telling investigators the man was a former Uber passenger who had contacted him by phone.

According to the arrest affidavit, investigators also spoke to Dodson’s girlfriend who denied knowing of Bryant’s actions, saying she believed he was just cashing “an insurance check.”
