Perhaps the first and most important lesson of the 2025-26 school year when the doors open on Aug. 11 is the students’ use of a cell phone.
More than 130 new laws went into effect in Florida as of July 1. Some of them make some sweeping changes to education in the state that parents and guardians should know about.
The bills that got the most attention were ones that banned or severely restricted phone use in schools.
School District of Collier County: What is the cell phone policy
According to Chad Oliver, Chief Communication Officer for Collier County Public Schools:
On July 31, the Collier County School Board approved a revision to the Code of Student Conduct relating to cell phones on school campus.
