A Texas chain is getting some Florida heat.
Tabañero, a Delray Beach-based hot sauce company, announced in June that it was partnering with Buc-ee’s to get its portfolio of 24 sauces in all the giant travel stations across 13 states. The sauces are already available in Buc-ee’s locations throughout Florida, Georgia, Alabama, Texas, and other Southern markets, the company said, as well as several grocery chains and Amazon.
“Buc-ee’s has become more than a convenience store—it’s a destination,” said Traci Mishner, Vice President of Marketing & Trade Operations for Tabañero in a June 25 release. “We’re excited to introduce Tabañero to a highly engaged customer base that actively seeks out new products and brands.”

Texas-based Buc-ee’s is a popular waystation for travelers in the South, with more than a hundred gas stations per location, scrupulously clean bathrooms, and a wide variety of food, snacks, and staples. There are currently two Buc-ee’s locations in Florida, in St. Augustine and Daytona Beach, with plans for at least four more on the way.
What is Tabañero?
South Florida vitamin and energy-drinks billionaire Carl DeSantis (no relation to the state’s governor) discovered new, bold flavors in 2000 while visiting Tabasco, Mexico, according to Tabañero’s about-us page. DeSantis partnered with local farmers for ingredients, but the initiative was delayed by flooding. In 2010, Tabañero officially launched.
Based in Delray Beach, Tabañero uses a combination of red habanero peppers sourced from Tabasco, Mexico, carrots, onions, garlic, key lime juice, and agave nectar. The company prides itself on only using vinegar as a natural preservative, not “a cheap filler,” for an enhanced taste that’s easier to cook with. All ingredients are all-natural, gluten-free, and kosher, with no artificial preservatives or additives, the company said.
The company offers a “tongue-tingling lineup” of hot sauces, BBQ sauces, condiments, and cocktail mixes. It also launched a patriotic 250th anniversary Signature Heat hot sauce in seven flavors, including sweet & spicy, peach bourbon, Key Lime habanero, and truffle jalapeño avocado.
Where can I buy Tabañero sauces?
If there’s not a Buc-ee’s near you, you can buy Tabañero from its website, at Amazon, or look for it in Florida grocery stores such as Walmart, Sprouts, Winn-Dixie, and other chains. You can find a retailer near you at tabanero.com/pages/tabanero-store-locator.
You might even find it on your next cruise. Tabañero also partnered with Carnival Cruise Line and Princess Cruises for all sailings across both cruise lines.
