Jacksonville police say three men in their late teens and another person were found shot at two Westside locations less than a mile apart following a late-night incident.
The teenagers were found wounded about 11:40 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 1, in the 6900 block of Ortega Woods Drive by officers responding to a reported shooting, the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.
At the same time, police responding to a report of a shooting found the fourth victim in the 5600 block of Ortega Park Boulevard. The Sheriff’s Office didn’t release that person’s age or say if the person was male or female.
Both locations are in residential neighborhoods about four miles west of Naval Air Station Jacksonville.
Information about the extent of the victims’ injuries and their conditions was not available as of mid-morning Sunday, Aug. 2.
The Sheriff’s Office said its preliminary investigation indicates the shootings were related. But it was unclear whether the shootings happened at one or multiple locations.
The suspect or suspects, as well as the motive, were not immediately known. However, the Sheriff’s Office said it doesn’t appear that the victims knew who shot them, the Sheriff’s Office said in the news release.
The Sheriff’s Office also said there was no indication that the shootings were gang-related.
Detectives with the Sheriff’s Office Robbery and Violent Crime Unit were interviewing witnesses and canvassing the area in search of surveillance video.
