A sign on the door May 18 said that the restaurant is “Temporarily closed until further notice.”

However, it appears that plans are underway to transform the venue into a private event space called The Gregory Waterfront Events & Gatherings.

“Our waterfront space is being transformed for celebrations, corporate gatherings, rehearsal dinners, receptions, private dining, and more. We’re currently accepting inquiries, preview tour requests, and future bookings while improvements are underway. Contact us to start the conversation,” The Gregory shared to its Facebook page on May 15.

Building owner Holly Hays leased the Gregory Street building to local restaurateur Andrew “Andy” DeMartin early this year, who planned to bring the best of his fresh seafood-forward favorites to downtown Pensacola.

Neither DeMartin nor Hays could be reached for comment.

Andy D’s debuted in Pensacola about three months ago, replacing South Market, which moved back to its previous location on Main Street. There are two other Andy D’s locations: the original in Navarre and a newer one in Milton.

The Andy D’s on Pensacola Bay menu featured some of the best-selling seafood dishes from DeMartin’s Navarre menu, such as his redfish plate, as well as land options, such as premium steak filets, pork chops and ragu pasta.

The Pensacola location is reminiscent of DeMartin’s first restaurant in Navarre but is more upscale, with a more sophisticated interior.
