Alice in Chains, the ’90s metal/metal grunge band slated to play at Welcome to Rockville Friday, May 16, unexpectedly canceled its concert Thursday, May 8, in Connecticut after drummer Sean Kinney experienced a medical emergency.
“After our soundcheck this evening at the Mohegan Sun Arena, Sean experienced a non-life-threatening medical emergency. We unfortunately have to cancel tonight’s show. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience.”

The post said refunds were available and mentioned nothing of rescheduling the show.
An announcement was made over the intercom at Mohegan Sun in Uncasville, according to Jack O’Brien, 18, who had tickets to see the show with his friends. O’Brien heard the announcement at 7:45 p.m. for the 8 p.m. show.
“The opener was canceled, too,” he said of opening band Chained Saint. “Everyone just left.”
The band, known for hits such as “Rooster,” “Would?” and “Man in the Box,” is looking forward to playing at Welcome to Rockville next weekend, longtime bassist Mike Inez said in a recent interview with The News-Journal. The group last played the metal fest 12 years ago, back when it was still held in Jacksonville.
Alice in Chains has not yet announced whether it will perform at Welcome to Rockville next weekend.
