Aldi is rapidly expanding in Florida has announced plans to open more than 180 new stores nationwide and three new distribution centers in 2026, including one in Florida.
The store has already began stretching its footprint in the Sunshine State. On Wednesday, Feb. 25 two new stores opened in Cape Coral and Fort Walton Beach. In the coming months, a third store is slated to open in Jacksonville.
Aldi opened more than 60 new and converted stores in Florida in 2025. The company also plans to expand its distribution center in Haines City and build a new one in Baldwin, projected for a 2027 opening.
Aldi hopes to hit 3,200 stores by the end of 2028.

According to the company’s 2025 Price Leadership Report, Aldi claims that prices overall run up to 35% cheaper compared to other grocery stores. The report listed an average of more than 25% savings on fresh fruit, 20% on dairy products and nearly 15% on eggs.
In 2024, the German-owned store bought Southeastern Grocers Inc., the parent company of Winn-Dixie and Harvey’s Supermarket, with plans to convert them all to Aldi stores in the coming year.
The first American store was in Iowa in 1976, but the company has stores now across 39 states.

Each store accepts cash, Visa, MasterCard, Discover, American Express, most debit cards, Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT), SNAP, Link cards and contactless pay such as Apple Pay and Google Pay.
By the end of 2026, Aldi hopes to operate nearly 2,800 stores on its five-year, $9 billion goal of reaching 3,200 by the end of 2028.
Sprouts is also expanding in the Sunshine State
Sprouts Farmers Market, an Arizona-based upscale grocery chain specializing in fresh, natural and organic food, has plans for even more expansion in Florida.
The grocery company opened its third location in Sarasota at the newly constructed Aster & Links building in downtown Sarasota in late 2024. There, Sprouts anchors the luxury apartment building and adds street-level grocery options to residents on Sarasota’s upper Main Street.
The downtown Sarasota location was Sprouts’ 47th store in Florida. It also became the third Sprouts store in the Sarasota-Manatee area.
Sprouts’ first local store, located at 8330 S. Tamiami Trail in South Sarasota, opened in April 2017.
The grocer’s Bradenton store, located at 1149 W. Cortez Rd., opened three years ago in 2023.
In January 2024, Sprouts opened a Charlotte County store at 2000 Tamiami Trail in Port Charlotte.
Last year the chain announced a “significant expansion in 2025, with a large focus on Florida.”
It has particularly expanded its footprint across Southwest Florida with stores planted in Largo, Boynton Beach, Poinciana, Lutz, Deerfield Beach, Ocala, Venice and St. Petersburg.
Sprouts operates 410 stores across 23 states.
