The U.S. men’s soccer team is headed to knockout rounds after securing their second win against Australia in the FIFA World Cup 2026.
Clearly one of the surprises of the tournament, the Americans have improved to 2-0-0 in group play after near complete performances in Inglewood, California, on June 12 and in Seattle on June 19.
The USMNT still have one more group match in this tournament, against Turkey, to clinch the No. 1 spot of Group D. The US will face Turkey on Thursday, June 25.

Did USA soccer win its last game?
The Americans got an own goal and then a header from Alex Freeman off a pop-up to take a 2-0 lead that they held on for a clean sheet against the Australian. They have now scored six goals in two games and only allowed one tally in the 180-plus minutes.
When does USA play next in World Cup?
USMNT next plays Turkey on Thursday, June 25. The US will head back to SoFi Stadium, where the beat Paraguay, to take on the final game of Group D.
