Will a $2 Powerball ticket make you a millionaire?
As they say in the lottery business, “it could happen to you.”
The Powerball lottery reset to $20 million for Monday, May 4th, or Star Wars Day, after players in Texas and Florida matched all five numbers plus the Powerball in the Saturday, May 2, drawing (see below). The “May the 4th Be With You” day drawing did not result in a winner, so the jackpot jumped to $30 million for Wednesday, May 6th, or “Revenge of the Sixth,” another Star Wars holiday. The cash option rose to $13.5 million.
Wednesday’s winning numbers were 18-27-51-65-68 and the Powerball was 5. Power Play was 3x. We’ll see if there’s a winner or another rollover. Those numbers produced an other rollover.
The Powerball jackpot for Saturday will grow to $47 million, with a cash option of $21.1 million.
In case you’re wondering, Monday’s winning Powerball numbers were 30-36-42-60-63 and the Powerball was 13. Power Play was 2x.
This Powerball draw is a week after two tickets matched all five numbers plus the Powerball in the Wednesday, April 29, 2026, drawing to win $143 million. On Thursday, April 30, Powerball.com showed there were dozens of match 5 winners across the country from that Wednesday draw. The lottery resulted in two grand prize winners and a whopping 89 secondary winners. The states where they won are listed below.
Though the jackpot reset to $20 million with a cash option of $9 million for Saturday, May 2, it didn’t roll over. Saturday’s winning Powerball numbers were 25-37-42-52-65 and the Powerball was 14. Power Play was 3x.
Was it you? According to the Florida Lottery, La Caribena Grocery and Restaurant, 131 Buena Ventura Blvd., Kissimmee, Florida, sold the winning Quick Pick ticket for Saturday, May 2, Powerball drawing.
The Texas Lottery reported QuikTrip, 10742 E. Crystal Falls Parkway, Leander, Texas, sold the winning Quick Pick Powerball ticket. In Texas, Powerball players must choose the cash value option or annuity at the time of purchase. According to the Multi-State Lottery Association, the ticket sold in Texas is worth about $4.5 million before taxes. As of Monday, May 4, 2026, the Texas Lottery winner had not come forward to claim their share of the $20 million prize, and the deadline to claim from the Lonestar State is 180 days from the draw date. The QuikTrip location in Leander, Texas, would be eligible to receive a $250,000 retailer bonus for selling the winning ticket, according to Texas Lottery.
There was one other big winner outside the Florida and Texas jackpot tickets: A ticket purchased in Georgia matched 5 plus the Power Play for a $2 million prize.
‘Night of millionaires.’ 91 winners in one Powerball drawing, game leaders confirm line pattern
A pair of tickets from Indiana and Kansas will split the $143 million Powerball after they matched all five numbers plus the Powerball on Wednesday, April 29, 2026, according to the Florida Lottery. In an odd twist, the drawing resulted in 89 secondary winners from 20 states earning prizes for $2 million and $1 million. None in Florida, however, according to Powerball’s site.
A day after the draw, Powerball officials said in a news release that “players who select their own Powerball numbers often create patterns when using playslips. In this case, the winning white ball numbers were in a singular column on many lottery playslips. As players are coming forward to claim their millions, we are learning that many used that very pattern as their special way of picking their winning numbers.”
Wednesday, April 29, winning Powerball numbers were 3-19-35-51-67 and the Powerball was 15. Power Play was 2x.
The USA TODAY Network-Florida picked up Florida Lottery Powerball playslips to see if the “line pattern” that resulted in multiple ticket matches in the April 29, 2026, Powerball drawing would apply.
Below is a photo of a Florida Lottery Powerball playslip with a blank panel and the April 29, 2026, winning numbers. The winning numbers did not produce a straight line − diagonal, vertical or horizontal − or any discernible, obvious pattern.

Does Walmart sell lottery tickets? Where to buy lottery tickets in Florida
In Florida, most gas stations and some grocery stores sell lottery tickets. It’s harder to find a gas station that doesn’t sell Powerball, Mega Millions, Florida Lottery and scratch-off tickets than it is to find one that does.
Publix also sells lottery tickets and is known for selling many winning tickets. A lesser-known location is Walmart. Whether the Walmart location closest to you sells lottery tickets depends on your state and the store. Many Walmart locations in Florida have self-service lottery ticket vending machines or sell lottery tickets at the customer service desk.
You can use the “Where to Play” search tool on the Florida Lottery website to find a grocery store or gas station near you that sells lottery tickets.
