The high school boys basketball season saw local stars shine and area teams make deep playoff runs. Those accomplishments are reflected in the Tallahassee Democrat’s annual All‑Big Bend selections.

The Crossroad Academy Scorpions won February’s FHSAA Class Rural championship, the school’s first-ever state title win in basketball.

Crossroad’s Brandon Shingles is the All-Big Bend Coach of the Year after leading the Scorpions to a 21-3 record, which included ending the season on a 10-game winning streak.

Godby Cougars’ senior Jaden Staten separated himself as the best player in the Big Bend, earning the Player of the Year honor.

The guard was one of the area’s top scorers, averaging 22.1 points per game as Godby picked up its fourth straight district championship and reached the FHSAA Region 1-4A championship game.
