Born in Maryland, Hubbard, 66, lived at 1825 Combee Road North in Lakeland where the fire occurred.

“The Bureau of Fire, Arson and Explosives will be the one to determine the cause, but there didn’t appear to be foul play,” Brian Bruchey, a public information officer for the Polk County Sheriff’s Office, said June 3.

The Polk County Sheriff’s Office is conducting a death investigation, which could take a month to complete, as the agency awaits the cause of death from the medical examiner and the bureau for the cause of the fire.

Polk County Fire Rescue responded to the fire on May 31, a county news release said.

At 11:52 a.m. on May 31, PCFR crews were dispatched to the fire. When they arrived, crews located an RV “fully engulfed in flames with a person potentially trapped inside.” Once the fire was extinguished, crews found Hubbard dead inside.
