Who will win the 2026 Masters? We’ll learn who puts on the green jacket after today’s final round at Augusta National.
It looked like it would be defending champion Rory McIlroy, seeking to become just the fourth player ever to go back-to-back. But he fell back to the pack in the third round after Cameron Young, the reigning Players Championship winner, and others went on runs to make up the distance.
Young, Sam Burns, Shane Lowry and Haotong Li are after their first Masters title. So are Justin Rose and Jason Day, who have come close several times before. Scottie Scheffler shot up the leaderboard Saturday to get in position for his third in five years, and Patrick Reed could add to his 2018 victory. Could someone else make a surprise run instead? Rory McIlroy wins the 2026 Masters
After spectacular shots on 16 (putt from the rough) and 17 (chip from the rough) to maintain his two-shot lead, Rory McIlroy sent his tee shot on 18 deep into the trees. But he was able to handle that trouble to make a bogey 5 and win the 2026 Masters. he’s the fourth man to win the Green Jacket for the second straight year.
Scottie Scheffler, Justin Rose come through with birdies to meet up in second place
The top players in the world are really digging in now. Scottie Scheffler’s birdie 2 on the par-3 16th, set up by a textbook tee shot for the classic hole placement, was equaled by Justin Rose’s birdie 4 on the par-5 15th. Both players reached 11 under for the tournament with those birdies, two shots behind McIlroy.
Rory McIlroy extends to lead to 3 on the back nine at the 2026 Masters
Shortly after Scottie Scheffler birdied on 15, Rory McIlroy had a chance to extend his lead with a birdie chance on the par-5 13. This hole began for McIlroy with a 350-yard bomb off the tee, perhaps his best drive of the tournament. And McIlroy didn’t disappoint on the green, either, jarring the long birdie chance to get to 13 under for the tournament.
Scottie Scheffler wakes up putter with birdie on 15
Scottie Scheffler had 11 straight pars through the middle portion of his final round of the 2026 Masters. But playing in the trees seemed to wake him up. He had to navigate pines on his second and third shots on the par-5 15, but that third shot found the green and set him up for a long birdie putt. And this time, Scheffler sank it to get to 10 under for the tournament.
Rory McIlroy extends his lead with dazzling birdie on 12
McIlroy hit a marvelous tee shot on the par-3 12th hole, sticking it within 7 feet of the hole. McIlroy then sank the birdie putt to take a two-stroke lead.
But there are four players two shots back: Justin Rose, Cameron Young, Tyrrell Hatton and Russell Henley.
Justin Rose suffers major hiccups after turn in final round of 2026 Masters
Just as hot as Justin Rose was to get to the lead at the 2026 Masters, things turned around quickly. Rose birdied three straight to, for a moment, lead by two strokes. But his bogey on the 11th and then struggled to chip out of the fringe on the 12th green. He eventually bogeyed that hole to fall to 10 under and one shot behind Rory McIlroy.
Tyrell Hatton puts himself in position with torrid back nine
Much like a thoroughbred down the stretch at Churchill Downs, Tyrrell Hatton has come from almost out of nowhere to get in position late in the 2026 Masters. He reeled off four straight birdies, from Nos. 13-16, to get to 6 under on the day and 10 under for the tournament.
Meanwhile, both Cameron Young and Rory McIlroy came up with birdies on the par-5 eighth hole to close to within one of the leader Justin Rose.
Justin Rose continues to still on fire, now in solo possession of lead
Justin Rose’s nifty bump-and run on the par-5 eighth hole gave him yet another birdie chance. And the three-time Masters runner-up capitalized, sinking the short putt to get to 11 under for the tournament and a share of the lead. But moments later, Cameron Young bogeyed the par-4 seventh while Rory McIlroy birdied that same hole, giving Justin Rose the outright lead by one.
Rose then answers with another successful birdie attempt, this time on a long putt on the par-4 ninth. His three straight birdies gave him a two-shot lead as he took to the back nine at the Masters on Sunday.
Rory McIlroy, Cameron Young each bogey par-3 sixth at 2026 Masters
The par-3 sixth was unkind to both Round 3 leaders at the 2026 Masters. First Rory McIlroy missed a par chance, followed by Cameron Young first dropped shot of the day. Young’s lead is down to only one shot over Russell Henley and Justin Rose, with Rory McIlroy and Scottie Scheffler two shots off the lead.
Justin Rose’s ridiculous shot helps push him to tie for second
Just an impossible shot by Justin Rose, from the pine straw and some how not just rolling it onto the green, but riding the back hill of the green to get to about a foot away from the hole.
The highlight shot of the afternoon (so far) helped Rose get to 10 under with a birdie on seven. He’s now tied with Russell Henley and Rory McIlroy for second place, two shots behind Cameron Young.
Russell Henley methodically chipping away at lead, now two shots back
Russell Henley is just quietly climbing up the leaderboard at the 2026 Masters. He began the day five shots back, but has four birdies on the front nine today, including back-to-back at Nos. 7 and 8. The No. 12 ranked player in the world is in prime position, tied for second and two shots off the pace.
Rory McIlroy gives back two shots on 4th in 2026 Masters final round
Just as soon as Rory McIlroy got back on the leader’s pace, he fought mini-disaster on the fourth hole. McIlroy struggled with a pair of putts, lipping out the second of which and having to settle with a three-put on the par-3 hole. His 5 there dropped him two shots behind Cameron Young and firming in second place at 10 under for the tournament.
Rory McIlroy delivers with a birdie, back tied for lead at 2026 Masters
Third time was a charm for Rory McIlroy. After missing chances to birdie on the first two holes, McIlroy was about 10 feet away on the green on the par-4 third and one shot behind Cameron Young. But with one stroke of his putter, that lead disappeared. McIlroy birdie brought him to 12 under for the tournament and a two-way tie atop the leaderboard.
Sam Burns struggles early after opening birdie

His three-shot drop pushed him down to a tie for fifth.
Scottie Scheffler navigates bunker to gain another shot at 2026 Masters
Scheffler worked himself into the greenside bunker on the third hole. But Scheffler had no problem with the up-and-down. The bunker shot landed and then rolled about 6 feet away. He then pounded his putter for a birdie 3 to get to within two shots of the lead.
Justin Rose chips in for birdie to begin 2026 Masters final round
Three times the runner-up at Augusta National, Justin Rose doesn’t seem intent on going away quietly on yet another Masters Sunday. The 45-year-old Englishman began his final round with a chip-in for birdie on the par-4 first hole to close to within two of the leaders. One of Rose’s three second-place finishes at Augusta came last year, in a playoff to Rory McIlroy.
