Two brush fires broke out in Naples, Florida, on Monday, May 18, with one growing to more than 200 acres by the afternoon.

The Hacienda Fire in the Picayune Strand State Forest off Rifle Range Road near Naples’ Azure community was burning 220 acres and 15% contained by around 3 p.m. The Picayune fire was getting decent rainfall, though, Jesse Lavender with the Florida Forest Service said.

Voluntary evacuation notices for the surrounding communities were sent as the fire was moving toward structures, according to the Collier County Sheriff’s Office. Max Hasse Community Park is the Safe Haven open for those electing to evacuate.

Fire crews are also battling the Inez Fire in the vicinity of Inez Road and Markley Avenue, the sheriff’s office reported. Authorities say the fire has grown to 35 acres and is moving as fast as the Hacienda Fire. The fire is 10% contained. No structures have been involved, no injuries reported, and no evacuations have been recommended or ordered.

Authorities are asking that the areas of the fires be avoided and residents continue to monitor local officials for updates.

Here’s where evacuees can seek shelter from the Hacienda fire and how to keep track of current wildfires and air quality on our maps below:
