Where does Kyle Shanahan rank in Coach of the Year odds in Week 18?

The San Francisco 49ers have put together a 12-4 record through the first 17 weeks of their 2025 campaign and have a chance to move to 13-4, win the division and secure the top spot in conference in their regular-season finale against the Seattle Seahawks on Saturday.

What San Francisco has done this year has been extremely impressive considering they lost several key players in the offseason, including Deebo Samuel Charvarius Ward, Javon Hargrave, Dre Greenlaw, Maliek Collins and Talanoa Hufanga. They also had a few of their best miss significant time this year due to injury, including Brandon Aiyuk (16 games missed), Nick Bosa (13), Fred Warner (10), Mykel Williams (7), Ricky Pearsall (7), George Kittle (6) and Malik Mustapha (5).

Still, through all of that, 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan has had his guys, starters and backups, ready to play and win games.

Shanahan’s now in his ninth season in San Francisco and is leading his team to the postseason for the fourth time. He’s yet to win Coach of the Year during his tenure, but could this be the year?

According to BetMGM, Shanahan currently has the second-best odds to win the award at +185 ($100 bet wins $185). New England Patriots coach Mike Vrabel is the favorite right now at -145 after turning that team from a 4-13 squad the last two seasons to the AFC East winners in his first season.

There’s a pretty sizable gap between Shanahan and the coach with the third-best odds, Seahawks head coach Mike Macdonald at +750. However, if San Francisco drops their Week 18 battle with Seattle, that gap could shrink.

Even if Shanahan doesn’t win the award in 2025, he still deserves a ton of credit for his efforts this season. Not many coaches could’ve kept this team flowing the way that they have through all of the adversity.
