Warriors linked to Alabama point guard in NBA mock draft

In a recent mock draft done by The Ringer, the Golden State Warriors were linked to a different selection with the No. 11 pick.

This time, Golden State was predicted to select Labaron Philon Jr., a point guard out of Alabama.

Last season with Alabama, Philon Jr. averaged 22 points per game, five assists, 3.5 rebounds and 1.2 steals.

Kyle Mann of The Ringer heaps praise on Philon Jr., saying that he could be the Warriors’ “own version of Rajon Rondo.”

If Golden State decides to move on from Steve Kerr, a shift toward a youthful roster could be on the horizon.

For that reason, the selection of the 20-year-old makes sense if the team views him as the point guard of the future.

That said, expect Golden State to pursue a “win-now” type of prospect instead of a player that’d need time to develop.
