Throughout the mock draft process, the Golden State Warriors have been linked to multiple guards or wings. Michigan’s Yaxel Lendeborg, Alabama’s Labaron Philon and Tennessee’s Nate Ament have been popular names alongside the Warriors in recent mock drafts. However, in the latest mock draft from Kevin O’Connor of Yahoo, the Warriors landed a big man in the frontcourt.
In O’Connor’s new mock draft, the Warriors selected Washington big man Hannes Steinbach with the No. 11 overall selection in the first round. According to O’Connor, Steinbach has the traits to be the perfect frontcourt partner for Golden State’s Draymond Green.

These traits all would make him a perfect frontcourt fit next to Draymond Green, and he’d bring versatility to the offensive end to support Stephen Curry. With Steve Kerr back in Golden State, Steinbach seems precisely like the type of pick who threads the needle between helping the present while still building a foundation for the future.

After playing professionally in Germany, Steinbach joined Danny Sprinkle’s squad in Seattle, averaging 18.5 points on 57.7% shooting from the field to go along with 11.8 rebounds and 1.6 assists in 34.6 minutes per game. In his freshman season at Washington, the 6-foot-11 prospect earned Big Ten All-Freshman honors and made the All-Big Ten third team.
With a total of 353 rebounds, Steinbach led all of college basketball in boards in the 2025-26 season. Against USC, Steinbach recorded a ridiculous 24 rebounds along with 22 points in a blowout win over the Trojans. Steinbach notched a double-double in 22 of 30 games for Washington as a freshman.
The first round of the NBA draft is set for June 23 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.
