Two incumbents will keep their seats on the Ventura County Board of Supervisors without a November runoff, the latest June primary results show.
Supervisors Janice Parvin and Jeff Gorell, a Republican from Thousand Oaks, won a majority of the votes, according to a tally released June 16.
If no candidate earns more than half of the votes, the top two finishers in local races advance to the general election in November. In all but one county race, however, a candidate received over 50% and the contest was decided in June.
Gorell was in a three-way race in the county’s 2nd District, which includes parts of Camarillo and Thousand Oaks, as well as Somis, Santa Rosa Valley and Oak Park areas. He had nearly 53% of the districtwide total, or 31,110 votes, as of the latest count.
Challenger Ashley Orozco, a Democrat of Newbury Park, received 40%, or 23,822 votes, and Mark Perryman, of Thousand Oaks, had just over 7%, or 4,228 votes. Roughly 40 ballots had yet to be processed countywide, county elections reported.
Orozco, a Conejo Recreation and Park District board member, said that she was proud of the work that her team did and the way the community showed up at the polls.
In District 4, Parvin, a Republican from Moorpark, received nearly 69%, or 32,346 votes, and challenger Ruth Luevanos, a Democrat, received just over 31%, or 14,758 votes. The district stretches across the Simi Valley and Moorpark area.
Here were other county races decided without a runoff, according to the latest semiofficial election results:
