A Victorville man died following a dirt bike crash in Apple Valley over the weekend, authorities said.
Victor Godinez, 31, was killed in the collision, which took place about 4:50 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 19, along the 10000 block of Kiowa Road, near Gorham Road, according to San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department and coroner’s officials.
He was riding a Yamaha off-road motorcycle north through the desert when he “collided with one of his riding partners,” sheriff’s officials said in a written statement. “The collision caused him to lose control and veer into an (electrical) pole.”
Godinez succumbed to his injuries a short time later at a hospital.
The cause and circumstances of the crash remained under investigation, officials said. DUI was not initially suspected as a factor.
Kiowa Road was shut down at the crash scene for about two hours as deputies from a Major Accident Investigation Team took measurements and gathered evidence.
Any witnesses, or anyone with information, was asked to contact Deputy J. Rodgers of the Victor Valley Sheriff’s Station at (760) 552-6800. Information may also be provided anonymously to the We-Tip hotline at (800) 782-7463.
