USC quarterback Jayden Maiava hosts youth football camp in Hawaii

With USC’s commencement now in the books, the 2025-2026 academic year is now complete. For the football team, that means they have a little time off before returning to campus for summer workouts.

Different players are using this time different ways. For quarterback Jayden Maiava, it means returning to his home state of Hawaii, where he hosted a youth football camp this week.

“Feels amazing,” Maiava told KHON, a Hawaii television station. “You know, just everybody who showed up and showed out. You know, I got a really good group of people around me. That really helped us, put this together.

“It means everything. When I was their age, I’d never thought I’d be throwing my own camp here, but, you know, being able to do that with the people around me. Just being able to, you know, come back to the community and, you know, be present.”

Maiava is originally from Paolo, Hawaii. He played some high school football on the islands, but finished his high school career in Las Vegas.

While USC has a rich history of Polynesian players, Maiava is the first ever player from Hawaii to start at quarterback for the Trojans. With some time off, he is back in his home state helping out with the local community, which is awesome to see.
