As we have written about many times prior, USC football is currently rolling on the recruiting trail. The Trojans currently hold the top-ranked recruiting class in the country for the 2026 cycle, and appear in great position to continue recruiting at an elite level in the years to come.
Over the past 5-10 years, USC’s biggest competitor on the recruiting trail has been the West Coast’s other program capable of operating at an elite level: Oregon. In recent years, Dan Lanning and the Ducks have largely had their way with the Trojans in terms of recruiting. But this year, the tide finally appears to be turning, much to the joy of USC fans.
On Tuesday, Oregon missed out on yet another big-name target, as five-star quarterback Ryder Lyons picked BYU. This came just days after five-star edge rusher Richard Wesley, a former Ducks commit, announced his pledge to Texas. Naturally, then, USC fans had a field day on social media trolling Lanning and Oregon.
Despite the misses, the Ducks still have the No. 9 recruiting class in the country, per On3’s rankings. However, they are still a way’s back of the Trojans, who have sat in the top spot for several months now.
Obviously, there is still a long way to go until signing day. But after years of being pushed around on the recruiting trail by Oregon, USC fans are very much enjoying the program finally acting the way that it is supposed to.
