Countdown to kickoff is back! USC will kick off its 2026 football season on August 29 when the Trojans host San Jose State at the Coliseum. In this series, we will be counting down the days until the season opener by highlighting a notable Trojan who wore each number.
Today, we take a look at former USC offensive lineman Marcus Martin.
Position: Offensive line
Years played at USC: 2011-2013
Career highlights: Martin earned USC’s starting left guard job as a true freshman in 2011. After two seasons starting at the position, he moved to center in 2013 following the departure of Khaled Holmes. As the Trojans’ starting center his junior year, Martin was named a team captain and earned first-team All-Pac-12 honors.
After USC: Following his junior season, Martin declared for the 2014 NFL draft, where the San Francisco 49ers selected him in the third round. He would go on to spend seven years in the league, including stints with six different teams. Martin’s last stint on an NFL active roster came with the New England Patriots in 2020.
