UCLA's Landon Stump enters the portal after three years in Westwood

The UCLA Bruins lost another member of their 2026 baseball team to the transfer portal on Saturday, with right-handed pitcher Landon Stump being the third member of the UCLA pitching staff to head to the portal.

Stump is draft-eligible this summer, after completing his junior season Stump could turn professional or stay in school for his senior season. Stump played his first three college seasons with the Bruins, committing to UCLA after playing his high school ball at Live Oaks High School in the Bay Area.

Stump has gotten better in each of his three seasons in Westwood. After posting a 6.80 earned run average as a freshman, Stump whittled his ERA down to 5.02 for last year’s UCLA squad that made it to the College World Series. This season, Stump saw his ERA decrease down to 4.12 over 18 appearances that included 13 starts.

The 54.2 innings pitched in 2026 for Stump was the fourth-most for the Bruins this season. The 6’3” pitcher struck out 43 strikeouts and allowed six home runs over the course of the season.

UCLA has now seen Stump, relievers Jack O’Connor and Chris Grothues, hit the portal along with starting outfielder Payton Brennan also entering the transfer portal. Those departures don’t even include all of the talent that the Bruins will lose in next month’s MLB Draft, where UCLA could lose several players in just the top few rounds.

Stump could join those players in the draft pool, or he could attempt to raise his draft stock with a solid senior year showing.
