UCLA alumnus Westbrook is 'all-time favorite' in OKC per former NBA PG

Earlier this week, UCLA men’s basketball alumnus Russell Westbrook retired from the NBA after 18 remarkable seasons spent with seven franchises.

Since the Bruins legend called it a career, many professionals from across the sports world have reacted to the news. Longtime NBA point guard Raymond Felton shared his take on the “To The Baha” podcast that he hosts alongside a trio of fellow NBA veterans: Theo Pinson, Charlie Villanueva & Deron Williams.

“Now that he’s retired I guarantee you, may not happen this season, but it may, next season retire his jersey and a statue,” Felton said. “He is stamped in OKC, bro. The best player, the favorite. Listen, y’all know how I feel about Shai, I love Shai. Shai is No. 2. I think he will always be No. 2. What Russ did in OKC, you got to understand he built that. There was no team in OKC, Russ built that. He built the winning culture, he stayed loyal, he stayed down with the fans. Russell Westbrook will be the all-time favorite Thunder player ever.”

Following back-to-back campaigns as league MVP for Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Felton’s recent take is a testament to the unforgettable legacy that Westbrook left during 11 seasons in Oklahoma City.
