A man accused of a July drive-by shooting in Stockton that killed two people made his first court appearance Monday.
Nathan Miller, 40, appeared before San Joaquin County Superior Court Judge Chrishna Martinez on Aug. 3 for an arraignment hearing. Miller is charged with the murders of Crissy Lorene Goldsberry, 48, and Rolando Michael Martinez, 58, who were killed in an alley on July 24, according to the complaint document.
On the day of Goldsberry and Martinez’s deaths, Stockton police officers were called at about 9:20 p.m. to the area of Pershing Avenue and Rosemarie Lane on a report of a shooting.
Officers provided medical aid to the pair until paramedics arrived and rushed them to a hospital. At the hospital they were pronounced deceased, police said.
For the two murder charges, Miller faces enhancements of intentional discharge of a firearm causing great bodily injury and death. Additionally, he faces a special circumstance of being convicted of multiple murders and a special circumstance of discharging a firearm from a vehicle with the intent of death.
During the arraignment hearing, Miller was appointed public defender Dorothy Mead as his attorney. Bail was not granted for the defendant.
Miller is scheduled to appear back in court at 8:30 a.m. on Aug. 18 for further arraignment.
