Los Angeles Rams head coach Sean McVay is regarded as one of the best in the league. The NFL’s second-longest tenured head coach (tied with San Francisco 49ers’ Kyle Shanahan) is a Super Bowl champion and is still one of the youngest head coaches in football.
McVay just wrapped up his ninth year in charge of the Rams last season and entering Year 10, his resume remains unblemished. Eight winning seasons, seven playoff berths, four NFC West titles, two NFC Championships, and a victory in Super Bowl LVI isn’t a bad way to start a career.
With years of potential success ahead of him and one of the best rosters in the NFL, the Associated Press voted McVay as the second-best head coach in the NFL.
“The Rams fell short against the Seahawks in the NFC title game in January after going 12-5 and winning two playoff games on the road,” wrote the AP’s Rob Maaddi. “McVay got four second-place votes along with the three firsts and was on seven of eight ballots.”
Kansas City Chiefs Andy Reid was ranked first, while current Super Bowl champion Mike Macdonald of the Seattle Seahawks was ranked third. Shanahan was ranked fourth, and Denver Broncos coach Sean Payton rounded out the top five.
